Playing Hurt

I didn’t realize until 3/4 of the way through picking titles that all my selections were contemporary! I consciously chose YA titles, because this is a YA blog, but I didn’t purposely set out to only choose contemporaries! Though, now that I think about it, I do feel drawn to contemporaries as something to read on the beach, by the pool, or when on vacation. Or maybe it’s just because I’ve been on a huge YA contemporary kick recently, with so many fantastic ones being released this year!

What are some of your favorite beach reads? Do you lean toward a specific genre for beach/poolside reads?

  4. I haven’t been reading a lot of contemporaries lately, but they just feel perfect for summer! Summer is a time full of wild possibilities, which just fits with contemporary novels.

Thanks for the recommendation! I’ve heard many good things about Flat-Out Love but I haven’t read it yet. I guess I’ll take this as a sign to include it in my summer reading list πŸ™‚

I think contemporary is almost always better for the beach. I don’t know why..it just fits! LOL!

Great selection! The only one I haven’t read yet is Beautiful Disaster, but I bought it a few days ago so hopefully soon.

Oooh, I’ve only read TSoTP and Amy and Roger and I totally agree that they’d make GREAT poolside/beach reads! Many of the others that I haven’t read are on my TBR list, though! Good thing summer is coming up so I can get on that xD

And haha yeah when I was trying to come up with a list in my head (which I didn’t end up posting because I couldn’t come up with enough >_<), many of them were contemporary reads, as well. I guess there is just something about pairing 'realistic' fiction when one is outdoors?
