I’m thrilled to participate in Tamara Ireland Stone‘s playlist blog hop for Time After Time (Time Between Us #2), the final book in the series, and a continuation of Anna and Bennett’s story told from Bennett’s perspective. AUGH! I can’t wait to read it! I was fortunate to first meet Tamara at Book Expo America in 2012, and we immediately connected over music of the 90s! 🙂 Time Between Us (click for my review) was my most anticipated title at BEA in 2012, and it did not disappoint, I loved it.

Time After Time by Tamara Ireland StoneCalling Anna and Bennett’s romance long distance is an understatement: she’s from 1995 Chicago and he’s a time traveler from 2012 San Francisco. The two of them never should have met, but they did. They fell in love, even though they knew they shouldn’t. And they found a way to stay together, against all odds.

It’s not a perfect arrangement, though, with Bennett unable to stay in the past for more than brief visits, skipping out on big chunks of his present in order to be with Anna in hers. They each are confident that they’ll find a way to make things work…until Bennett witnesses a single event he never should have seen (and certainly never expected to). Will the decisions he makes from that point on cement a future he doesn’t want?

Told from Bennett’s point of view, Time After Time will satisfy readers looking for a fresh, exciting, and beautifully-written love story, both those who are eager to find out what’s next for Time Between Us’s Anna and Bennett and those discovering their story for the first time.

Choosing a song from Anna and Bennett’s playlists was so difficult! I wish I could have picked my top 3, because choosing ONE was so hard. I think I was drawn specifically to Anna’s playlist because like Anna, I was in high school in 1995. Just seeing the list of songs brought back so many of my own memories.

I finally chose Head Over Feet by Alanis Morissette. This is a perfect song for Anna, and her feelings for Bennett; I was so happy to see it on the playlist! Just listen to it, and you’ll know why. Oh, and if you haven’t read Time Between Us yet, you must!

I had no choice but to hear you
You stated your case time and again
I thought about it

You treat me like I’m a princess
I’m not used to liking that
You ask how my day was

You’ve already won me over in spite of me
And don’t be alarmed if I fall head over feet
Don’t be surprised if I love you for all that you are
I couldn’t help it
It’s all your fault

Your love is thick and it swallowed me whole
You’re so much braver than I gave you credit for
That’s not lip service

You’ve already won me over in spite of me
And don’t be alarmed if I fall head over feet
Don’t be surprised if I love you for all that you are
I couldn’t help it
It’s all your fault

You are the bearer of unconditional things
You held your breath and the door for me
Thanks for your patience

You’re the best listener that I’ve ever met
You’re my best friend
Best friend with benefits
What took me so long

I’ve never felt this healthy before
I’ve never wanted something rational
I am aware now
I am aware now

You’ve already won me over in spite of me
And don’t be alarmed if I fall head over feet
Don’t be surprised if I love you for all that you are
I couldn’t help it
It’s all your fault

I remember driving to school one morning with my friends in the car, cranking up this song and singing along with it (and daydreaming about my crush). I also saw Alanis sing Head Over Feet live in concert, in the summer of 1996 (it was awesome!). I use to work at a concert venue, and had the luck of working a snack stand in right field, so I had a view of the stage. Yeah, it was pretty much the perfect job for a teenager – music, decent pay, and great tips!

Thanks so much to Tamara for having me be part of the Time After Time Playlist Blog Hop, and letting me pick Head Over Feet! Check out what Tamara has to say about Head Over Feet over on her blog, and follow the playlist blog hop here. Also, you can follow Anna and Bennett’s playlists for Time After Time on Spotify! Tracks will be added once the playlists are revealed, so go ahead and follow, so you can see once they’re added.

Gotta love some ’90s Alanis Morrisette. You know she wrote all those angry songs about Uncle Joey from “Full House.” My brain just exploded.

I have such fond memories of Jagged Little Pill, of Head Over Feet. I remember being proud that Alanis was Canadian and that she found success internationally. The album has always felt so relevant, giving a voice to so many issues that women deal with. It’s no wonder there was a song on there that fit Anna and Bennett so perfectly. When I came across the album’s reference in Time Between Us, I tweeted about it, and Tamara replied. It made me so happy.

  19. Lydia says:

The entire idea of this is so cool. I love watching the playlist grow as the hop continues. And “Head Over Feet”? Such a perfect choice! It’s also rather crazy to think that Anna was in high school when I was born; for some reason, I never thought about that while reading the book. Thank you for the wonderful post and giveaway opportunity!
