Take Me On by Katie McGarry

I’m thrilled to be taking part in Katie McGarry‘s blog tour for TAKE ME ON, another companion novel to PUSHING THE LIMITS (I love this series)! Check out the books and the quote below, then be sure to enter the giveaway below.

Take Me On by Katie McGarryAcclaimed author Katie McGarry returns with the knockout new story of two high school seniors who are about to learn what winning really means.

Champion kickboxer Haley swore she’d never set foot in the ring again after one tragic night. But then the guy she can’t stop thinking about accepts a mixed martial arts fight in her honor. Suddenly, Haley has to train West Young. All attitude, West is everything Haley promised herself she’d stay away from. Yet he won’t last five seconds in the ring without her help.

West is keeping a big secret from Haley. About who he really is. But helping her-fighting for her-is a shot at redemption. Especially since it’s his fault his family is falling apart. He can’t change the past, but maybe he can change Haley’s future.

Hayley and West have agreed to keep their relationship strictly in the ring. But as an unexpected bond forms between them and attraction mocks their best intentions, they’ll face their darkest fears and discover love is worth fighting for. (Goodreads)

Katie McGarry’s Book Switch-up

Which of my characters should hang out with characters from other books and why!

The characters who should be best friends:

Echo from PUSHING THE LIMITS and Ali from THE WHITE RABBIT CHRONICLES (Gena Showalter)

Think about it, both Echo and Ali start in a vulnerable place, but both end up very strong at the end of their first book. I have faith that Echo could totally kick some Zombie butt and she already has Noah so she won’t be interested in Cole. Bonus, Cole and Noah in the same room together. I think I just died.

The characters who at heart are sisters:

Beth from DARE YOU TO and Gwen from WHAT I THOUGHT WAS TRUE (Huntley Fitzpatrick)

Whew, both of these girls have made some mistakes in the past and both of them have been hurt. This has led to them both having a tough time trusting the great guy who shows an interest in them. Beth and Gwen could sit for hours talking and eating cookie dough ice cream discussing their pasts and how great Ryan (Beth) and Cass (Gwen) really are once they let these gorgeous guys in.

Two guys who together could make an awesome difference:

Isaiah from CRASH INTO YOU and Alex from PERFECT CHEMISTRY (Simone Elkeles)

Both of these guys have had to fight to stay alive on the streets. It hasn’t been easy for either of them—Isaiah was raised in foster care and Alex was a member of a gang, but both of them found ways to stay true to who they were and became successful in the end. Isaiah and Alex could make a great team mentoring at-risk youths.

The Two People I Want in my Group When the Apocalypse Happens:

West from TAKE ME ON and Four from DIVERGENT (Veronica Roth)

West has pure raw talent when it comes to mixed martial arts fighting. He’s loyal and takes care of those he loves. Four has the skills to survive in a world gone crazy and I have a feeling that after a few days of sizing each other up, I definitely think that West and Four could forge a rocky friendship. Plus, both of these guys are red hot and I think I could stomach the apocalypse better waking up to seeing them every day.

Katie McGarryAbout Katie McGarry

Katie was a teenager during the age of grunge and boy bands and remembers those years as the best and worst of her life. She is a lover of music, happy endings, reality television, and is a secret University of Kentucky basketball fan. Katie is the author of the full-length Young Adult novels PUSHING THE LIMITS and DARE YOU TO, and the e-novella CROSSING THE LINE. Her debut novel, PUSHING THE LIMITS, is a 2012 Goodreads Choice Finalist for YA Fiction and an RT Book Reviews 2012 Reviewer’s Choice Awards Nominee for Young Adult Contemporary Novel. Writing has given Katie an excuse to pursue her passions. Research for her books has provided her with the amazing opportunity to train with baseball players, ride along in a drag car at ninety-six miles per hour and experience boxing and mixed martial arts. The most memorable moments for Katie are when she speaks to groups of teenagers about her research, writing and the truth that no dream is out of reach. Katie would love to hear from her readers.
