I’m excited to be participating in my first ever Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke and the Bookish! Every Tuesday, The Broke and the Bookish post their top ten lists and host a link up. They even try to list topics in advance on the feature’s page where you can look at past lists and see what’s coming up. I’ve been meaning to participate for over a month now and for whatever reason I… haven’t. Until NOW! Woot!
This week is a freebie topic, and I just saw that The Story Siren posted a list of her “Top Ten Books of 2011 (that I want to read, but haven’t)” list and internally I jumped up and down because now that I’m book blogging I have SO MANY books that I want to read but that don’t necessarily fit into my reading schedule, and I think about this a lot. I hope Kristi doesn’t mind that I’m swiping her topic!
My Top Ten Books I Want to Read
(in no particular order)
1. City of Bones (Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare
I know *cringe*, I can’t believe I haven’t read this already either! I’ve wanted to read this for so long and I hope to squeeze it in next month. It’s at the top of my list! I must find out what the fuss over Jace is all about, you know, since he won the YA Crush Tourney over at The YA Sisterhood!
2. Nevermore (Nevermore #1) by Kelley Creagh
I keep hearing about this book, from everyone it seems! I liked Edgar Allen Poe in high school, so I’m thinking this will be right up my ally.
3. A Blue So Dark by Holly Schindler
I absolutely loved Playing Hurt, and must read this soon.
4. Other Words for Love by Lorraine Zago Rosenthal
This has been on my must-read list since it came out… I actually have it right now from the library (for the THIRD time) and hope to read it later this month…
5. Shade (Shade #1) by Jeri Smith-Ready
This is another series I’ve had my eye on lately. I put up a poll on which series I should start reading in September and right now it’s a close race between this one and Mortal Instruments. Please vote if you haven’t already, the poll is in my sidebar :).
6. North of Beautiful by Justina Chen Headley
I feel like I’m the only who hasn’t read this book! This is another book that I’ve checked out multiple times from the library but couldn’t find time to read it before having to take it back. It sounds like a beautiful story.
7. Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles #1) by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
Yup… another series I’ve yet to start but dying to read! I’ve heard such mixed reviews of the Caster Chronicles. It seems to be one of those hate it or love it books with nothing in between. That only makes me want to read it MORE so I can find out which side I’m on :).
8. Sean Griswold’s Head by Lindsey Leavitt
I need to read this, and I’m hoping my book fairy will let me borrow it :). This is a story of first love and sounds sweat, funny, and cute. I’ve only heard good things… I hope to read it SOON.
9. The DUFF by Kody Keplinger
This has been on my TBR list for a while and it keeps getting recommended to me over and over. I feel like this is a MUST READ though honestly I’m not sure exactly why. I do think I’ll love it though… it’s one of those girl-hates-boy-then-falls-for-him books.
10. The Summer I Turned Pretty (Summer #1) by Jenny Han
I’ve heard amazing things about the Summer series! I really really wanted to read this whole series this summer but then I started blogging and I couldn’t make them fit in my “reading schedule”… which is kind of ridiculous but is kinda unavoidable as a book blogger.
WHEW. It was tough making a top ten list, because I have a never ending TBR list. These ten are the ones I want to read the most as of today… I’m free to change my mind tomorrow :). This meme was so much fun, I’ll definitely be participating more often! Thanks to The Broke and the Bookish for hosting!
