Evie’s always thought of herself as a normal teenager, even though she works for the International Paranormal Containment Agency, her ex-boyfriend is a faerie, she’s falling for a shape-shifter, and she’s the only person who can see through paranormals’ glamours. But Evie’s about to realize that she may very well be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures. So much for normal. (Goodreads)
Oh, bleep! This was such a fun read! Witty, fun, and light-hearted, with a bit of mystery.
I really liked Evie, the protagonist. She’s witty and strong, yet sheltered and vulnerable. All she wants is to be normal. To go to high school, have a locker of her very own, and date boys. Instead she lives vicariously through her favorite TV show, Eastern Heights, which she watches with her best friend Lish… who happens to be a mermaid. I also really liked Lend, he is such a sweetheart, and I loved the slow building friendship/romance between him and Evie. Reth (her ex) is just despicable, but at the same time there was something appealing about him.
I especially enjoyed White’s take on all the paranormals, particularly the vampires. I’m not sure why, but I totally wasn’t expecting the mystery/suspense. I was guessing the entire time! Seriously, this book was funny with moments that made me snicker, and suspense that kept me turning the pages. I can’t wait to see what comes next in Supernaturally!
