It’s that time of year, when TV show seasons come to an end. Usually, I’m a little bummed out about this, but this year I’m kind of excited about it! I read so much now, that it’s daunting trying to keep up with my TV schedule and my pile of TBR/review books! Plus, I love how in recent years networks have started having summer TV series. I’m looking forward to my returning favorites, and some new shows that are on my radar. Here’s what I plan to be watching this summer:

So You Think You Can Dance on FOX, Thu 8/7c

What’s summer without SYTYCD? I freaking love this show! They’re changing it up this season by only having one 2 hour show a week. I’m not sure what I think about them getting rid of the results show, but I’m glad to hear that they’re going to pair up the top 10 with all-stars again. The dancing fun starts May 24th!

Rookie Blue on ABC, Thu 10/9c

I’ve been watching Rookie Blue since the very first episode. Though I liked the show from the start, it wasn’t until season 2 (last season) that I fell in love with this show. I love the characters, and I’m hooked. I’m really excited for season 3, it premieres May 24th.

Breaking Pointe on the CW, Thu 8/7c

The Breaking Pointe is a new documentary show premiering May 31st. It gives an insiders view of what it’s like to be a dancer in one of the most competitive ballet dance companies – Ballet West in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Bunheads on ABC Family, Mon 9/8c

I’m sooo excited for this show! It premieres June 11th, and I can’t wait! If you can’t tell already by this list of shows, I’m a sucker for all things dance related… so it was already a given that I’d give this show a try. Then I read that it’s executive producer is Amy Sherman-Palladino, the creator of Gilmore Girls. Yup.

Baby Daddy on ABC Family, Wed 8:30/7:30c

Baby Daddy is a new half-hour comedy premiering June 20th on ABC Family. It’s about a guy that suddenly finds out he’s a dad when his ex-girlfriend leaves his baby on his doorstep. I’m a little uncertain about this one, but it sounds cute so I’ll give it a go.

Lost Girl on SyFy, Mon 10/9c

I also have plans to watch season 1 and 2 of Lost Girl on the SyFy channel. I’ve heard so much about this show that I have to check it out. I’ve only watched the first episode but I think I’ll really like it, it reminds me a little of the Fever series (adult, not YA) by Karen Marie Moning. I was able to TiVo a season 1 marathon, and have been recording season 2… I’ve just been waiting for summer to start the series!

So that’s what I’ll be watching! Other summer shows I have on my radar that I might give a try are Duets (ABC) and Teen Wolf (if I get around to watching season 1, on MTV)… Am I missing anything good? What will you be watching this summer?

  2. I am so excited for SYTYCD! It’s my favorite show of the summer! I like the idea of the two hour a week show, because I would never watch the results anyway- I’d turn it on at the end to see who had to leave. Yea for dancing!

I love SYTYCD – my DVR is already set to record!:)

Have you watched Franklin and Bash? It was one of my favorite summer shows last year, and it’s coming back for a second season. It’s probably the funniest lawyer show I’ve seen, lots of humor and interesting cases.
