Please welcome Krystal Wade, author of the Darkness Falls series! She’s here today to share the story behind the story, and an awesome, huge giveaway as part of her Kismet Book Tour.
“There is no pain in this death, only peace, knowing I am going to die with the one I love the most.” – Katriona Wilde
Katriona Wilde has never wondered what it would feel like to have everything she’s ever known and loved ripped away, but she is about to find out.
When she inadvertently leads her sister and best friend through a portal into a world she’s dreamed of for six years, she finds herself faced with more than just the frightening creatures in front of her. Kate’s forced to accept a new truth: her entire life has been a lie, and those closest to her have betrayed her. What’s worse, she has no control over her new future, and it’s full of magic and horrors from which nightmares are made.
Will Kate discover and learn to control who she really is in time to save the ones she loves, or will all be lost?

The Story Behind the Story
by Krystal Wade
Kate isn’t a new character to me. When I was in third grade, I’d rush home from school every day and write stories about a pre-teen girl who’d have loads of babysitting adventures.
Did I ever finish one of those stories?
No. Cramped hands, lack of patience and paper, and well, a change in my personality led me to do other things . . . like play French Horn and join Drill Team.
I’m off topic.
Okay, so, Kate babysat lots of kids and found a place in almost every “book” I wrote. So, naturally, when the “vision”—a girl in a dense, green forest, reaching out her finger to touch something shimmering—hit me, the best name for that character was Kate.
She’s morphed into a woman, a woman still full of naïve notions and insecurities, relocated from Texas to Virginia, had a change in jobs, and experiences a slew of new adventures, but she’s still the same Kate.
In case you’re wondering, the girl and the forest and her name were the only pieces of information I had when I sat down to write Wilde’s Fire. I didn’t know until eight chapters in that she was going to slip into another world, and I had no idea there’d be an Arland there waiting for her, but the more I wrote, the more things fell into place for Ms. Wilde.
About the author: Krystal Wade can be found in the sluglines outside Washington D.C. every morning, Monday through Friday. With coffee in hand, iPod plugged in, and strangers–who sometimes snore, smell, or have incredibly bad gas–sitting next to her, she zones out and thinks of fantastical worlds for you and me to read. How else can she cope with a fifty mile commute?
Good thing she has her husband and three kids to go home to. They keep her sane.
