Bound to the water bound to land, a Siren’s soul will never be safe on either side of the ocean’s surface. Hidden beneath the rolling waves lies the secret to Theia’s past and as she unveils each haunting truth, she realizes the last seventeen years of her life have been a lie. Now, drawn into a mysterious new world and with nowhere to turn, Theia must place her trust in Luc, a beautiful boy who stops her heart with each dazzling smile, but even his unearthly charm can’t hide the truth—he has secrets— dark secrets binding him to his world—an underwater world where Theia will never belong—a world determined to destroy her soul.
In the length of a tweet (140 characters), tell us about your book.
Think little mermaid collides with the dark side.
Are you working on something new? Can you tell us what’s coming next?
Landlocked, the thrilling sequel to Surface will be coming out this June.
I am also crazy busy finishing up the third book.
If you could jump into a book and live in that world, which would it be?
Any of the Harry Potter Books. I want to feast in the Great Hall and spend my galleons at Honeydukes. Oh, and I want my own owl.
Is there a song you could list as the theme song for your book or any of your characters?
Wide Awake by Katy Perry
I’ve sort of made this song Theia’s anthem.
What TV show/movie/book is your guilty pleasure?
Glee. I just started watching last season—I’m obsessed.
If you could ask any author (alive or dead) one question, who would it be and what question would you ask?
William Shakespeare
How did you survive without spellcheck?
What drew you to writing this genre?
Ghosts, vampires, witches and spells, paranormal was created for a spooky luvn’ girl like me.
If you weren’t a human, what would you be?
Definitely a Siren. They get the best of both worlds.
Where is your favorite place to write?
The outline and first few chapters of Surface and Landlocked were written at the local pool while my son was swimming. I can write anywhere as long as I have tea and my laptop.
What is your favorite part of the writing/publishing process?
Having readers connect with the characters. I spend a lot of time with my characters and grow to love/hate them. I know I’ve done my job when readers develop a relationship with them too.
About the author:
Tiffany Daune doesn’t get why people want to grow up or why anyone would ever stop eating candy. Her purse is filled with books, lip gloss and a few pieces of Lego bricks. She writes best with a dish of chocolate chips on hand and finds licorice makes a better straw than plastic.
She lives on an island and believes mermaids may be raiding her candy stash, thoughshe hasn’t caught them, yet.
Surface is her first novel and pairs well with gummy sharks.
