Today, Amelie Fisher is stopping by for an interview as part of her VAIN blog tour! Check out her Q & A below, and then enter to win a signed copy of VAIN and some swag!
If you’re looking for a story about a good, humble girl, who’s been hurt by someone she thought she could trust, only to find out she’s not as vulnerable as she thought she was and discovers an empowering side of herself that falls in love with the guy who helps her find that self, blah, blah, blah…then you’re gonna’ hate my story.Because mine is not the story you read every time you bend back the cover of the latest trend novel. It’s not the “I can do anything, now that I’ve found you/I’m misunderstood but one day you’ll find me irresistible because of it” tale. Why? Because, if I was being honest with you, I’m a complete witch. There’s nothing redeeming about me. I’m a friend using, drug abusing, sex addict from Los Angeles. I’m every girlfriend’s worst nightmare and every boy’s fantasy.
I’m Sophie Price…And this is the story about how I went from the world’s most envied girl to the girl no one wanted around and why I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. (Goodreads)
Thank you so much, A Book and a Latte for having me! I’m truly honored!!!
You are so welcome, thank you for being here! 🙂 OK, in the length of a tweet (140 characters), tell us about your book.
I lure you in with sweet promises…before twisting your neck. I backstab & use but you will love me, you just don’t know it yet. #VAIN
Are you working on something new? Can you tell us what’s coming next?
I am! VAIN is book one of The Seven Deadly Series and I’m writing the second, GREED, starring Spencer, as we speak. The series are not a continuation of the last novel though. Each book is a companion novel to the last featuring an entirely new leading character and story and will cover one of the seven deadly sins.
Wow, how awesome! So, if you were stranded on a desert island what are 3 things you’d want to have with you?
This feels like déjà vu, this question, because strangely enough, I know exactly what I would bring without hesitation. A chocolate martini, my Kindle, and a sat phone. See you in an hour, US Navy!
LOL! If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
Many may not consider this a superpower but I certainly do. My name would be Up-Kept Woman! At a simple snap of my fingers, I am ready for the day. Hair? Washed and styled. Nails? Manicured. Eyebrows? Waxed. Makeup? Perfect. Clothing? Gowgeous! Impromptu appointment at the bank? I’m there. Ridiculously annoyingly nosy neighbor? Put in check! More time to write and to play with my kids? Done!
I am….Up-Kept Woman!!!!! Aka Sabrina the Teenage Witch
Side note: Up-Kept Woman has the ability to stop evil with a single “mom stare”. Kind of a big deal.
That is genius. Dang, I want the Up-Kept Woman superpower! What are your pet peeves?
When a bride and groom shove cake in each other’s faces at their reception. It feels so disrespectful. And when people complain about the smell of burnt popcorn. Nobody burns it on purpose. LOL!
Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
People have told me that VAIN changed their lives. Nothing is more humbling, more awe inspiring, more rewarding than an admission like that.
Is there a song you could list as the theme song for your book or any of your characters?
For the entirety of VAIN, Breath of Life by Florence + The Machine. Between Two Points by The Glitch Mob represents Sophie and Ian to me.
What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
There are going to be so, so, so many people who will make it their life’s mission to bring you down. Ignore them. Because, eventually, if you work hard enough, your message will break through their wall and spill over willing hearts and it will transform you.
What’s your favorite quote?
This changes frequently, but right now, it’s:
“Expect nothing and accept everything.”- Anthony Hopkins
I love that quote! If a movie was made about your life, who would you want to play you and why?
I have a celebrity doppelganger in Jennifer Connelly so I suppose she’d be best. She’s a perfect version of me, if there was one.
What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you?
“Stop reading your reviews!”
Do you have any hobbies? Writing doesn’t count!
I play the violin…poorly. 🙂
Trailer for VAIN
About the author: Fisher Amelie is the author of The Leaving Series, Callum & Harper and Thomas & January. She began her writing career as a copywriter for an internet marketing company wherein one of their client’s said, ‘Hey! You’re funny. You should write books’. Which in turn she said, ‘Hey, get out of here! This is the lady’s restroom.’ While washing her hands and the embarrassment from her face, she thought they may have had a valid point. So, she took the thousands of hours of writing stories growing up, tucked them into her pocket and began writing and writing and writing.
