The Unwanteds is a good book with an interesting plot. I would not compare it with Harry Potter, because the plot is very fast, not allowing for much detail.
I liked Alex, Lani, and Meghan, and how the story was told through each of their eyes. Mr. Today is very mysterious throughot the book. Also, Samheed has something attracting about him, even though he seems to be one of the antagonists at first. I would have liked more reference to how they looked or their habits, etc. It was relatively easy to connect with the characters, because sometimes people look down on those who pursue art, theater, and writing.
I didn’t really get why Quill was a millitary land, but the idea behind the book is a very good one. I read the entire book in one day. It was very hard to put down. The book jumps straight into the action. If it had more background, there would be more of a contrast between Quill and Artim’e.
I liked the book, and would probably recommend it to a friend.
