MOONSET (Legacy of Moonset #1)
Moonset, a coven of such promise . . . Until they turned to the darkness.
After the terrorist witch coven known as Moonset was destroyed fifteen years ago—during a secret war against the witch Congress—five children were left behind, saddled with a legacy of darkness. Sixteen-year-old Justin Daggett, son of a powerful Moonset warlock, has been raised alongside the other orphans by the witch Congress, who fear the children will one day continue the destruction their parents started.
A deadly assault by a wraith, claiming to work for Moonset’s most dangerous disciple, Cullen Bridger, forces the five teens to be evacuated to Carrow Mill. But when dark magic wreaks havoc in their new hometown, Justin and his siblings are immediately suspected. Justin sets out to discover if someone is trying to frame the Moonset orphans . . . or if Bridger has finally come out of hiding to reclaim the legacy of Moonset. He learns there are secrets in Carrow Mill connected to Moonset’s origins, and keeping the orphans safe isn’t the only reason the Congress relocated them .. .

In the length of a tweet (140 characters), tell us about your book.
MOONSET is about 5 siblings, raised in the shadow of their parents’ crimes, as they’re hunted down by dark magic and political schemes.
If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
Teleportation. I’d love the ability to start my day in Malibu, pop over to Morocco for a few hours, then spend the afternoon writing in a small English pub somewhere near the coast.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you “grew up”?
I didn’t know you actually COULD write books when I was a kid. I thought all the books had already been written, so if you wanted to write, you had to do it for a newspaper. So for the longest time I thought I’d become a journalist.
What are you favorites? Book, movie, music/band, candy, food, vacation spot?
Book: There’s this little known novel by John Gilstrap (who is now a big thriller writer) called Nathan’s Run, about a teenager in the 90’s who escapes a juvenile detention facility after a guard attacks him.
Movie: Of all time? The Goonies. Most recently, Pitch Perfect.
Band: Digital Daggers (go check them out, especially “Bad Intentions”)
Candy: Peanut M&Ms
Vacation: Anywhere with a coastline.
What TV show/movie/book is your guilty pleasure?
Teen Wolf. It’s a show that doesn’t always take itself too seriously, and they really seem like they’re having fun with it, from the writers to the cast.
What do you listen to while you write? Or do you prefer silence?
I’m experimenting with writing in silence right now. Usually I have a playlist of songs, and then I listen to soundtracks when the mood strikes.
Who or what inspired your last book?
Most of my books lately have started out of a random bit of dialogue that popped into my head fully formed. My next project came about because I sat down one night and wrote seven paragraphs about something at random, and the premise was cool enough to make me want to continue.
What book do you love that doesn’t get a lot of hype?
The Iron Thorn by Caitlin Kittredge. I love the world she created, and the descriptions, and the everything.
What is next on your to read list?
I’m currently reading the fantastic A Touch Menacing by Leah Clifford. After that, I’m reading Gillian Flynn’s other novels (I just read Sharp Objects).
About how long did it take for you to write your book?
To finish a first draft usually takes me 2-3 months. And then at least another couple of months to polish the draft up enough to where it makes sense.
What is your favorite part of the writing/publishing process?
The day after turning in a project and making my deadline.
About the author:
Scott Tracey is a YA author who lived on a Greyhound for a month, wrote his illustrated autobiography at the age of six, and barely survived Catholic school (and definitely not for the reasons you might think). He is the author of WITCH EYES, chosen as one of Amazon’s Best LGBT Books of 2011, as well as an ALA Popular Paperback in the Forbidden Romance category. The final book in the WITCH EYES trilogy, PHANTOM EYES, will be released in the fall of 2013.
He is also the author of MOONSET, a new series which will be released April 8, 2013, as well as a contributor to the SHADOWHUNTERS & DOWNWORLDERS anthology, edited by Cassandra Clare.
His career highlights include: accidentally tripping a panic alarm which led to nearly being shot by the police; attacked in a drive-thru window by a woman wielding a baked potato, and once moving cross country for a job only to quit on the second day.
His gifts can be used for good or evil, but rather than picking a side, he strives for BOTH (in alternating capacity) for his own amusement.

I’m so excited for this. Moonset showed up on my doorstep on Tuesday. Also, LOVE John Gilstrap, although I haven’t read Nathan’s Run and I’ve had the Iron Thorn on my shelf for forever, so I’ll have to make that a priority.

I would have to say, the children of the moonset coven would be my favorite because I have yet to read the Witch Eye series. Shame on me, I know. It is on my to-read list and will be read ASAP. 🙂
The children of the Moonset coven or the Lansings…..
